Position: Executive Director of the Chicago Semester Program
A full-time, 12-month administrative appointee, the Executive Director administers all aspects of the Chicago Semester program, including recruitment of students and program personnel and oversight of all operations, including the curriculum and student internships. This person reports to the Director of Off-Campus programs at Trinity Christian College for budgeting, programming, staff appointments, and related administrative decisions. A policy board of six representatives from the sponsoring colleges formulates policy and advises in policies and procedures.
The director must demonstrate knowledge and experience relevant to administering a program with significant emphasis on experiential education. Necessary skills include oral and written communication proficiency, staff management, conflict resolution, and other personal qualities appropriate to an executive position. As an educational institution committed to the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development of its students in the Reformed Christian tradition, Trinity Christian College requires staff members to conduct their work and lives as Christian role models. Thus we seek candidates who are professing Christians and competent to demonstrate to students a mature articulation of faith and learning.
An advanced degree is required (doctorate preferred), in an area appropriate to the mission of Chicago Semester as a program offering experiential education to upper-level college students. Desirable qualities are experience in academic administration, including liberal arts education and semester-long internships.
The first duty of the director is to articulate and promote a vision for Chicago Semester to its various constituencies, in cooperation with the policy board under guidance of the Trinity administration, in accordance with the guidelines set forth in the program constitution. Trinity Christian College is a four-year liberal arts college located in Palos Heights, Illinois, a suburb twenty miles southwest of Chicago.
