Professional and Personal Interests

Because money wields power in today’s society, Eun Ahn employs a subtle teaching approach that he hopes will make a significant impact on his business students.

“I strive to teach them how to make money and not to love money,” he said. “There is nothing wrong with earning and using it the right way, but many people begin to misuse it as they acquire more of it. I want my students to understand that money should not be their ultimate goal.”

Ahn keeps that focus at the forefront when he teaches finance and economics. He came to Trinity in 2004 after teaching for three years at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, and for five years at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He cites Trinity’s reputation and Christian atmosphere as major reasons why he joined the College.

“Within the realm of small Christian liberal arts colleges, Trinity’s business program offers a diversity of majors and concentrations that appealed to me. It provides excellent career preparation, and I believe that my corporate experience and technical background can be a benefit to the students. Another plus is that I can integrate my Christian faith into my lectures.”

A native of Seoul, South Korea, Ahn became a U.S. citizen at age 20. He is a Certified Public Accountant and graduated from Wheaton College with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He completed his master’s in business administration at the University of Chicago before finishing his doctorate in business administration at the University of Illinois.

He and his wife, Robyn, live in Westmont, Illinois, with their children Charis, Justus, and Valor. They attend Southwest Alliance Church in Palos Hills, Illinois.
