Nursing
Cheryl Anema successfully defended
her dissertation on Tuesday, May 9, at Rush University College of Nursing
in Chicago, Illinois. Anema is assistant professor of nursing.
Business
Five business students attended
the Partners Worldwide conference held in Muskegon, Michigan, on May 4-6.
Partners Worldwide provides opportunities for business professionals to
contribute their expertise to service projects.
An account by Nelvia Brady has been
accepted for inclusion and publication in College Faith 3: 150 Christian
Leaders and Educators Share Faith Stories from their Student Days.

PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Aron Reppmann '92 successfully
defended his dissertation with distinction, Monday, April 17, at Loyola
University. Reppmann is assistant professor of Philosophy and director
of the Honors Program. His dissertation is titled "The truth of love
and the love of truth: the philosophical relevance of eros and philia
in Plato's Lysis and Phaedrus."
ART
Three students of Art professor
John Bakker were nominated by their peers to represent the College in an
art exhibition. The event, titled "3x3", will be held at North Park
University.
ENGLISH
Several English majors presented
papers at the 15th annual Undergraduate Conference on English Language
and Literature, University of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois. The
students include Allison Backous, Janet Bruinsma, Amy Giovannetti, Allyson
Lenting, Joy MacBrien, Sam McCune, Andra McCrory, Esther Peters, Elyse
VanderSpek, Amanda Wetter, Annette Witte, and Ryan Zantingh.
ETHNIC DIVERSITY
Trinity will be participating in
a pilot program of the Associated College of Illinois that will provide
five low income/minority/first generation students with additional renewable
scholarships tied to an intensive support program.
MUSIC
Two of Trinity's ensembles traveled
out of state in the past month to perform in churches and schools.
The Brass Quintet, led by Ken Austin, played in four churches and two schools
around Pella, Iowa, February 25-27. The Honors Ensemble, led by Mark Peters,
sang in three churches and two schools in Sheboygan and Waupun, Wisconsin,
March 4-6.
POLITICAL SCIENCE
Six political science students under
professor Charles Emmerich, are completing their field education requirements
at a variety of locations, including two at Administer Justice, two at
the City of Palos Heights, Illinois, one at the Palos Heights Police Department,
and one at the National Association of Evangelicals.
