What is THRIVE?

A 2 -credit class at Trinity, taken by first-year students in their first semester on campus, and the official start of fall classes for all first-year students!

Thrive is an intensive all-in week before the start of the semester, PLUS  8 weeks of class during the semester that help provide you, a first-year student at Trinity, structured support for flourishing in your other first-semester courses.

Intensive means that all day long for 5 days, events have been carefully planned and crafted that will provide you with an introduction to the life and community of Trinity, both socially and academically, even when on the surface it might just look like we are having fun!

Intensive means that we structure the week to allow for personal development, social connection, times of rest and choice, and preparation for your academic journey—all to help you adjust to college in a way that answers questions, alleviates anxieties, and gives you confidence for the first day of the full semester.

Structured support means that these class sessions will give you a place to ask questions and get support for the habits and practices that help make you academically successful while at Trinity!  Structured support also means that these 8 weeks will build a solid foundation for your entire college academic journey.

Because we know how important it is to learn from and interact directly with Trinity faculty, the Thrive course is co-taught by a student and faculty mentor pair, giving you peer perspective and faculty guidance from your first day on campus.

It is so important to us, that it is included in your tuition, so you do not have to pay any extra for meals or housing for the intensive 5-day portion.

It is proven that participating in a first-year seminar program, such as Thrive, greatly increases your chances for returning to college for your sophomore year and ultimately graduating from college.

To help you get ready for Thrive, communication is key!  There will be numerous communications sent to you throughout the summer, so make sure you are checking your email regularly.   There will also be a summer assignment due a week before the start of Thrive, so be on the lookout for those instructions as well!
