Schedule of Events
Commencement weekend is full of celebratory events for you, your family, and friends. We hope you can take advantage of these wonderful opportunities!
Friday, May 5
- 1:00 p.m. Nursing Pinning Ceremony, Ozinga Chapel Auditorium
Reception follows in Grand Lobby
- 5:00 p.m. Honors Convocation, Ozinga Chapel Auditorium
All graduates, family, and friends are invited.
Students who will be graduating with honors will receive an invitation to participate in the Honors Convocation.
- 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Barbeque Dinner, The Lawn/Dining Hall (depending on weather). All graduates, family, and friends are invited. This event is free of charge.
- 7:30 p.m. Baccalaureate Service, Ozinga Chapel Grand Lobby
This worship service is led by members of the graduating class to gather you and your family, friends, and classmates for a time of reflection, prayer, and praise.
Saturday, May 6
- 9:00 a.m. Graduating students arrive at the DeVos classroom (136-138) for robing, instructions, and to line up for the processional. Please bring your cap, gown, medallion and honors cord (if applicable). If you have not yet received a medallion or honors cord - one will be available for you, (if applicable).
- 10:00 a.m. Commencement Ceremony, DeVos Center. (Live Streaming)
Dr. J. Todd Billings, Th.D., will provide the address at the 2017 Spring Commencement, which takes place on Saturday, May 6. Dr. Billings is the Gordon H. Girod Research Professor of Reformed Theology at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI. An ordained minister in the Reformed Church in America, he received his B.A. from Wheaton College, M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and Th.D. from Harvard University Divinity School.
There will be a professional photographer taking pictures of all graduates as they cross the stage. Please let family and friends know that pictures can be taken only from one’s seat during the ceremony.
Ticketing and Viewing Information
Guest tickets will be provided to each graduate via our online ticketing service, Eventbrite. It will be sent to your Trinity email. Tickets may be printed and will be scanned at the entry to the DeVos Center. The event will also be live-streaming to any device with an internet connection, so family and friends from afar can watch you graduate as well. Additional family members who do not have tickets but would like to join you on campus will be welcome to view the event via simulcast in the Ozinga Chapel Auditorium.
There are 4 tickets available. For non-ticket guests over flow seating will be available in the Ozinga Chapel.
Doors will open at 9:00 a.m.

Q: When and where do I pick up my cap and gown?
A: Your cap and gown will be available for pick-up on:
- Monday, April 24 from 3PM-6PM
- Wednesday, April 26 from 1PM-6PM or
- Thursday, April 27 from 1PM-6PM
inside the entrance to the Jennie Huizenga Library. Prior to receiving your cap and gown, you are asked to complete the First Destination Survey to fulfill Trinity’s obligations on Career Outcome reporting. Computers will be available on-site, but if you would like to complete the survey in advance you may do so here. This survey must be taken by all graduates, no matter which degree earned. If you have additional questions please contact the Cooper Center for Vocation & Career Development (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Q: Where do I order graduation announcements?
Q: When do graduating resident students need to move out of residence halls?
A: Residential students who are participating in the graduation ceremony need to complete a room check with their Resident Assistant by 5pm on Friday May,5 and be completely moved out by 3pm on Saturday, May 6
Q: On which side do I wear my tassel?
A: Undergraduate degree candidates should wear tassels on the right side of their cap for the academic procession. When their degree is conferred during Commencement, tassels are moved to the left side of their cap. Because graduate and professional degree candidates already have received a bachelor's degree, they should wear tassels on the left side of their cap throughout commencement ceremonies. Faculty members and administrators should also wear tassels on the left side of their cap throughout commencement ceremonies.

Q: What about photography and videography?
A: Professional photos will be taken of each graduate during the ceremony as they receive their diplomas. These photos will be available for purchase following the ceremony. Q: Is there a special way that I can honor my graduate?
A: Trinity invites family and friends of graduates to purchase an alumni brick engraved with their graduate’s name. Bricks are placed in the courtyard outside the Ozinga Chapel. For more information or to purchase a brick online, visit https://giving.trnty.edu/brick
Q: Is the ceremony handicap accessible?
A: Yes, the DeVos Center is fully handicap accessible. For wheelchair access, we encourage you to enter the building on the far east doors, behind the building. Interpretation for the hearing impaired will also be provided.

A. Yes, parking is available in many of the campus lots. Please refer to the Maps and Parking Information section of the website.
