Thursday afternoon the group moved to their hotel room in Madrid. Everyone is doing fine, and the students have had their fair share of Spanish art and history by now. They have visited yet another world-renowned museum, El Prado. This museum houses the famous masterpieces of Goya, such as "Las Meninas," Velazquez, and El Greco, along with his collection of saints, among many other treasures of humanity.
Today they are going to the Reina Sofia museum. It is a more contemporary museum actually few blocks from El Prado. This museum, while housing many works of art, is visited because it houses the famous Picasso painting "Guernica," a criticism of cruelty that humanity suffered under the dictatorship of Franco, aided by the Nazis. It is also interesting to see the development of Guernica through various sketches Picasso worked on before painting the final version.
The group is making stops to restaurants and also a Flamenco dance show tonight.
