Students on this travel interim are seeing and studying some of the greatest biodiversity in the world. Toucans and suspension bridges, poison dart frogs and zip lines, sloths and an active volcano, a dry forest and a look at the Pacific Ocean; all these are part of Costa Rica. The students explore the rainforest, dry forest and volcanic regions to learn about how the ecology of these regions work, how humans interact with these regions, and how we can learn to reflect on what we observe. Many scholars of popular culture consider The Beatles to be a significant social force of the 20th century. The students are travelling to London and Liverpool to study the history and social impact of the Beatles. In London they will go to all of the major Beatles’ sights and visit places of interest like Buckingham Palace, the Tower of London, and Windsor Castle. They will also stop for short visits to Oxford University, and Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare’s home). In Liverpool, they will visit all of the Beatles’ childhood homes, places that inspired songs like Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane, places where the Beatles performed before they were famous, and a museum called The Beatles Story. Students are visiting the Caribbean Christian Center for the Deaf in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Mornings are spent working on the CCCD facilities and afternoons will be spent in the classrooms. The students have an opportunity to explore a bit of the island by taking the children on a field trip as well as spending a day in Ocho Rios climbing Dunns River Falls and shopping in the straw market and spending our last night on the island at an all-inclusive resort. The focus of this course is founded on the Christian call to service. Students will minister and live in Harvey, Illinois at Harvey House (men) and Tabitha House (women) during these two weeks of service. This interim will explore the rainforest, Manuel Antonio coastal region and volcanic regions to learn about how the ecology of these regions work, how humans interact with these regions, and how we can learn to reflect on what we observe. Expect lots of hiking, never‐before‐seen encounters, a new appreciation of God's diverse creation, and a good amount of laughter and community building.
Students experience first‐hand the wonderful Cuban culture. Step back in time to what many consider the 1950s era (or is it?) and see a nation long considered our enemy…only to discover warm, kind and friendly people. They will find an intriguing mix of religions (Evangelical Christians, Catholic Christians, even idol worshipping) under the curtain of the atheistic ideology. Meet the people, visit and work with the local evangelical churches, orphanages, nursing homes, sports facilities and schools and overall have a good time while showing the love of God to a whole country living in need of Christ’s love in the flesh: you and me.
Students visit to historic sites in Venice, Florence, and Rome, Italy. The course will focus on the cultural and artistic highlights of these three cities and will stress the importance of Italian architecture and art in the development of Western Europe. Students will visit the Basilica of St. Mark’s in Venice, the Duomo in Florence, and the Sistine Chapel in Rome. There will also be opportunities to visit art museums and attend a live concert.
Trinity athletes who are members of the women’s soccer team wiill travel to Costa Rica for a time of ministry with an emphasis placed on sharing the gospel through sports. Trinity students should be prepared to spread the good news of Jesus Christ through street evangelism, worship, various labor activities, participation in
competitive sports matches, as well as serving at churches, orphanages and schools within the local communities. The group will remain open to the Lord’s leading throughout the trip
During this interim we will work with Trinity’s semester in Ecuador partners to provide health care to jungle‐based
populations. This interim will allow students to experience the vastness of health care disparity between the urban and
jungle settings, in addition to the disparities between persons of South America and North America. In addition to
educational and service opportunities at various locations, there will be fellowship and outreach opportunities each day.
Expect hiking, lots of bugs, and a once‐in‐a‐lifetime adventure into the jungle of Ecuador to provide health care to
various groups of people.
Students on this travel interim have an opportunity to partner with the K‐13 Haitian Christian School located on the
campus of Mission of Hope. Students offer pre‐planned in‐services for teachers on the following topics: learning
styles, teaching methods, and creative lesson planning specific to P.E. and sport.
