This is the last e-mail I will be sending from the Jamaican Interim group. Thursday night was very special at CCCD. The children put on a program for us and we in turn both signed a song for them and then danced "I've Gotta Feeling" in the dark with glow sticks on our ankles and wrists. Needless to say, the kids loved it! Afterwards the team shared communion; our last time of devotions and prayer together as a team.
On Friday and Saturday we had the opportunity to see and experience what most tourists see when they come to Jamaica.
On Friday the team traveled to Ocho Rios to climb Dunns River Falls, have lunch at the Pizza King and then shop in the Straw Market. I believe that Rene Hernandez earns the title of best shopper and bargainer…. we even had to go find him in the market because he was still shopping. After a sleepy ride back to Mo Bay, we took some time to clean up, dress up, and eat dinner at Margaritaville with some of our new CCCD friends. We ended the night by going across the street to Coral Cliffs and dancing the night away. It was a GREAT day.
Saying good-bye to the children and staff of CCCD is always hard and this year was no exception. After a few tears and many hugs we arrived at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort to spend our last night in Jamaica at this lovely all-inclusive resort. Everyone is taking advantage of his or her last day of sun in Jamaica. Tomorrow morning the team will board the 11:30 bus for the airport and arrive back in cold and windy Chicago around 5:50. Everyone is anxious to see their families and friends but it is always difficult to leave this beautiful island.
If you see anyone from the team, ask to see his or her pictures. We probably have around 3000 pictures between the 23 of us! I will be staying in Mo Bay, Jamaica until May 11, teaching at Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College courtesy of a Fulbright Scholarship. So my Jamaican adventure has just begun.
