Dear Family and Friends,
After leaving a cold and wet Chicago, the Jamaica Interim team landed safely in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Since we arrived at around 3:15, we didn’t stop for lunch, just our annual photo overlooking Montego Bay, and then headed on up to the Caribbean Christian School for the Deaf in Granville.
We would be lying if we didn’t say how wonderful it was to land in 80 degree, sunny weather with gentle breezes blowing off the Caribbean. We are all excited to settle into our dorm rooms and meet the kids of CCCD. We have a jam packed week ahead of us so after devotions tonight, I’m sure many of us will make it an early night.
Tomorrow morning we will be worshipping at The Meeting Place and then grabbing some Jerk chicken before heading off for our annual Sunday afternoon beach day at Doctor’s Cave Beach Resort. It’s good to be in Jamaica but will be even better once we start working with the kids on Monday, visit Sam Sharpe Teacher’s College on Tuesday, and Robin’s Nest orphanage on Wednesday.
Please continue to keep the team in your prayers as we seek to join God in the wonderful work he’s doing in Jamaica.
In His Service, Patti and Rick Powell for the Jamaica Interim 2014 team
