Dear Family and Friends,
You know you're in Granville, Jamaica, when you're going on 30+ hours without water and just had 6+ hours without electricity. We were thrilled that the electricity came on in time to cook dinner and before nightfall so that we wouldn't have to walk around in the dark, but we are all very ready to take a shower- it's been a long, hot 30 hours.
On the bright side, we had our closing program with the children today and then put on our Christian Carnival for them in the gym. Not only did the children enjoy the games and prizes but every adult on campus joined in the fun and loved getting prizes as well. That's Jamaica for you.
Tomorrow we are very excited for our outing to Ocho Rios. After about a 2 hour ride, stopping at Discovery Bay to see where Christopher Columbus discovered Jamaica, we will hit the straw market, using our best bargaining skills to negoatiate good deals. Then it's off to KFC for lunch, and we will end our trip to Ocho with a trip to Dunns River Falls. Then it's back to CCCD (and hopefully water) to get ready for our evening dinner at Margaritaville.
The team has really bonded and our nightly devotions have allowed us to get to know and love each other deeply. Please continue to pray for safety for our team as we spend tomorrow on the road and then the next day at the Sunspree Holiday Inn. God is good...all the time...all the time...God is good.
In His Service, Dr. Patti Powell and the 2012 Jamaica Interim team
