Nursing: Department Chair


Position:
Chair of the Nursing Department, a 12-month administrative appointment with faculty rank, starting June 2006.  The department of nursing offers a professional program leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), which is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.  

Qualifications:
Doctorate in nursing or related field required; master's degree in nursing is required if the doctorate is in a related field.  Current licensure as a professional nurse in Illinois, or eligibility for, is required.  Appropriate clinical and baccalaureate teaching experience required; administrative experience in nursing education is desirable.

Trinity seeks candidates who are professing Christians and committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.  They should support the goals of a strong liberal arts education in the tradition of Reformed Christian higher education and be competent to demonstrate to students a mature articulation of faith and learning.  Candidates must demonstrate evidence of communication skills and other personal qualities appropriate to an administrative position. 

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include: develop, implement, and evaluate program planning; evaluate the nursing program for compliance with program goals, college policies, and criteria of accrediting bodies; oversee administrative procedures and policies; prepare budgets for the department; coordinate recruitment and evaluation of nursing faculty and support personnel; participate in recruitment, selection, and advising of nursing students; participate in teaching, committee, and research activities; coordinate and administer formal contractual agreements with affiliating clinical agencies; and coordinate development of the library and audio-visual collections.

Compensation:
Rank and salary commensurate with experience.  Benefits include health insurance, pension, life insurance, and disability insurance.

Trinity Christian College is a four-year liberal arts college located in Palos Heights, Illinois, a suburb twenty miles southwest of Chicago.
