SUMMARY
Responsible for planning, directing and providing primary care to students (clients) in the campus health care clinic. Performs medical procedures within the scope of practice and protocols. Demonstrates professional behaviors that are consist with Trinity Christian College’s mission statement to provide Christ-like service to others.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute episodic illness
- Writes prescriptions according to diagnoses
- Treats minor injuries and laceration including suturing
- Performs health histories and physical examinations
- Performs and orders laboratory and diagnostic testing
- Administers medications and injections
- Schedules follow-up visits in office as needed
- Make referrals to physicians as needed
- Provides client education
- Recommends and refers to community resources to meet clients needs
- Maintains and reviews current medical records on clients
- Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA
- Triages client’s telephone calls and provides consultation
- Administers vaccinations
- Coordinates health promotional activities (providing printed information, routine testing, etc.)
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested
- Compiles necessary reports/statistical data concerning care provided at facility
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
- Develops policies and procedures for health center; acts as a resource person for decisions, planning and policies affecting the health of students
- Provides a written collaborative agreement that outlines the working relationship of the nurse practitioner with the collaborating physician
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Receptionist and/or Medical Assistant

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree (M. S.) or masters in science of nursing (M.S.N.); a minimum of three to five years experience as a nurse practitioner in a clinic setting is preferred. Successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, and other pertinent documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the Trinity community. Ability to effectively present information to senior management, faculty, staff, public groups, and others.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of scenarios and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Must be currently licensed as a nurse practitioner in Illinois.
