Trinity students will perform theatrical productions of “The Ugly Duckling” and “The Other Room” on October 19-20 at 7 p.m. in the Marg Kallemeyn Theatre as Part One of the 7th annual student-directed one-act plays.
Gina Ciametti ’13 of Hickory Hills, Illinois, and Graeme Scott ’13 of Oakville, Ontario, are directing the plays as part of their senior capstone courses. Both Ciametti and Scott study communication arts with a theater concentration.
The shows are performed back-to-back and tickets are sold together. Click here to purchase advance tickets for the October 19 performance or here for October 20. Tickets are also available by calling 708.597.3000 or visiting the reception desk on the 2nd floor of the Jennie Huizinga Memorial Library. Tickets cost $8 in advance for general public and $5 for students and senior citizens. Ticket prices increase $1 at the door if still available.
The Ugly Duckling by A.A. Aline, directed by Gina Ciametti
The comedy, “The Ugly Duckling” focuses on a royal family’s desperate and elaborate attempt to arrange a marriage for their ugly daughter. The king and queen attempt to trick a prince into marrying the princess with help from the palace servants.
Ciametti said she chose the play to tie into the communication arts department’s theme for the year, “Crisis and Connectedness.” She believes her experience in past productions will help her with directing.
“It’s a weird feeling being on the other side of the stage from a directorial point of view, said Ciametti. “I have learned a lot from my time in Trinity’s theater program, and I am privileged to work with a confident and talented cast who make every rehearsal a productive and enjoyable one.”
