Professional and Personal Interests
For Don Woo, it is all about the students.
“I hope to stimulate learning and provide my students with what they need to prepare them for service in God’s kingdom. I hope to use my years of experience in Christian education, including my 11 years at Trinity Christian College, to help equip my students to respond to God’s plan for their lives.”
God’s call for Woo to teach at Trinity came in 2001 when he began serving as an adjunct professor.
“I realized I loved teaching at Trinity and was revitalized by the opportunity to interact with college students who wanted to become teachers. I had literally rediscovered my passion for teaching.”
Woo’s career as a Christian educator began in 1971 at Calvin Christian School in South Holland, Illinois. After serving in a variety of capacities over 33 years, he joined Trinity as a full-time faculty member. He describes it as a perfect fit.
“Trinity Christian College is committed to providing an excellent Christ-centered education from a Reformed, biblical perspective. I want to show my students how that Reformed world view affects every area of life. My faith shapes the way that I view my students, informs my understanding of the purpose of education, drives my desire to serve students, and influences my desire to see students make a difference in this world by glorifying God and serving others.”
Woo’s current scholarly interest is a form of qualitative inquiry called autoethnographic research. He also enjoys fishing and cooking, but finds the most joy in spending time with his family. He and his wife, Kay, have been married for 42 years. They have two married sons, Don (Christina) and Eric (Dana), and three grandchildren: Lauren, Donny, and Henry. The Woos live in St. John, Indiana, and attend Faith Church in Dyer, Indiana.
