Dr.
Sherry Barnes, one of Trinity's communication arts professors, earned certification
from FranklinCovey Co. to lead one of its productivity workshops. As a
facilitator, she will share time management principles that will help people
identify and achieve the highest priorities of their daily activities.
Barnes, who holds a doctorate
in human resource development from the University of Nebraska and has served
as vice president of the American Society for Training and Development,
attended her first Franklin seminar in 1992. Now she plans to incorporate
the principles she learned into her teaching.
"The time-planning system
is based on establishing priorities to manage daily activities and accomplish
the most important tasks first," she said. "It integrates home, professional,
and ministry goals and responsibilities. I look forward to sharing the
system with the Trinity community."
Barnes conducted a workshop
titled "Focus: Achieving Your Highest Priorities" on campus Thursday, January
16. The workshop included a lecture, small-group discussion, short videos,
and workbook activities. She plans to introduce it as part of the new TRACS
Communication Program beginning in May.
