Interlibrary Loan

General Information
Books and periodical articles which are not in the library's collection may be obtained through interlibrary loan. This service is available to Trinity students, faculty and staff. Community borrowers are encouraged to use their local public libraries for interlibrary loan. Trinity Christian College adheres to the I-Share Catalog and copyright regulations.

Books
As a member of the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (I-SHARE), Trinity Christian College library users have access to the collections of all 65 member libraries. Books may be searched and requested directly through the I-Share catalog. Instructions for placing requests are available on the Universal Borrowing help screen. To request books from non-I-Share or out-of-state libraries you must complete the ILL Book Request form.

Articles
Article requests cannot be placed through I-Share. To request articles from other libraries, fill out the ILL Article Request form. A nominal fee of $.10/page will be charged to cover the cost of photocopying.

Reciprocal Borrowing
To improve access to library materials, the Jennie Huizenga Memorial Library is a member of several library consortia.  The purpose of these consortia is to extend the borrowing privileges of Trinity students and faculty, beyond the walls of our building. Members may visit any of the cooperating libraries and check out materials. See below for descriptions of the consortia and lists of participating libraries.

  • LIBRAS : An 18-member coalition of private, liberal arts colleges in and around Chicago that formed an organization for the purposes of resource sharing and networking.
  • I-SHARE : I-Share is a shared catalog of 65 academic libraries in Illinois. Trinity Christian College is a full participant in this consortium and grants reciprocal library privileges to all member libraries.
  • SMRHEC : the South Metropolitan Regional Higher Education Consortium is a group of thirteen colleges and universities that will allow circulating materials to be borrowed by all holders of a current, valid ID from any other member library. Patrons (i.e. students, faculty, or staff) must comply with the lending library's rules and regulations. Services will vary among libraries, so patrons should contact the lending library to inquire about the types of services available.  Patrons are responsible for returning materials to the lending library.
