Elementary Education

Launch your future with a B.A. from Trinity

If you feel called to teach the next generation of students, then Trinity’s B.A. in elementary education may be for you. With an education degree from Trinity, you will be prepared to enter the classroom believing that all children can learn; understanding students of diverse populations and abilities; and meeting the demands of increasingly rigorous, standards-based education.

At Trinity, your coursework will be broad-based with an emphasis on the liberal arts. Courses will include arts in education, technology in education, educational psychology, introduction to biological science, elementary English language arts methods, world geography, earth science, elementary history methods, college algebra, inferential statistics for elementary teachers, physical education for K-9 educators, introduction to physical science, and American government and politics.

While at Trinity, your hands-on classroom experience includes:
• 200 hours of field experience (teacher aiding)
• 90 additional hours of novice teaching (pre-student teaching)
• A 16-week student teaching internship

Trinity is located just 25 miles from downtown Chicago, so your field experience, novice teaching, and internships can take place in a variety of classroom settings: urban and suburban, domestic and international, multicultural, special education, middle grades, public and private. Some of our students extend their experience much further and do student teaching and field experience around the country and around the world.
