FAQ: Student Life, Athletics and Financial Expectations (2020-2021) Archives

This section contains operations information about student life, athletics and financial aid for Spring 2021.

Student Life

Student Government Association (SGA) is currently working on organizing a January Involvement Fair. In addition, new first year students will be supported in their transition to campus through residence hall programming throughout January and February.

Students who do not have IDs will be able to get photos taken upon their return to campus during business hours at IT in the Huizenga Memorial Library. Students who have ID cards should plan to use their existing ID card.

Pastor Bill Van Groningen and the Campus Ministries team are working together to plan creative ways for us to gather as a campus community for worship. They will provide regular announcements regarding chapel, Outcry, and other opportunities via trollview emails.

Yes! We will have spaces to hang out. We are identifying spaces across campus for student hang out in socially distanced ways, and Student Life is working to have some student employment positions to serve as front desk staff for certain spaces such as the Molenhouse and Grand Lobby. Watch Trollweb for job postings if you are interested in serving your peers in this way. We anticipate that facility hours will be adjusted to prevent large groups from congregating in our facilities. Specific hours and access to campus offices are continually shared via email with students, faculty, and staff.

We are updating our campus expectations and clarifying the Covenant of Care. January 2021 is a fresh start for us to re-engage in the Trinity community. With in-person classes and athletics happening on campus, we will be communicating regularly with the campus community regarding policies. It will be very important for students to pay attention to ongoing communications from the College.

Students who live internationally or hold F-1 visas are invited to contact Trinity’s Director of International Student Services about any specific questions or concerns they may have.  We recognize that international students may have unique considerations and challenges during this season, and we welcome communication and outreach from students and their families regarding those concerns.

Yes, please wear your student ID at all times.  Due to our mask requirement, this will help us to identify who is permitted to be on campus.

Financial

If you are facing a particular financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, additional financial assistance might be available to you.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office for further details. In addition, the College has established the In It Together Fund – an emergency fund set up for students who are facing unexpected emergency expenses.

Athletics

Student-athletes are expected to be engaged members of the college community and to prioritize the health of their team and the campus community. Attention to attitudes and behaviors that surround sport activity are what will enable the best possible chance for spring schedules to be played as intended.

Student-athletes should honestly complete the daily screening app #CampusClear, stay home and refrain from participation if they have any known virus exposure or symptoms, and comply and cooperate with the COVID Care Team and processes.

Student- athletes can expect sport-specific information to come from their coaching staff, as return to campus dates vary by sport. Parents, family members, and guardians should check with their student-athlete for information, and may also contact the Athletics Department if additional information is needed.

Competition schedules are expected to change frequently. The athletics website will be the best place to see up-to-date competition schedules.

At this time, we are not allowing any in-person spectators for home game events but we are prepared for livestream experience for these home events via GameCentral. The spectator policy will be updated as any policy changes are made.

ALL student-athletes will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID test upon arrival to campus and before participating in any team activity. Additional surveillance testing is being planned, and student-athletes should expect to be tested throughout the semester and during their athletic season.

Like in the fall, the Fitness Center will be open to the campus community, Monday to Saturday, weekly. Hours will be solidified and posted before the start of the semester. Usage guidelines and expectations will also be posted and shared; these will be similar to fall semester guidelines and expectations.
