Cherith Lundin – Biography
Cherith Lundin is a Chicago-based artist using painting and drawing-based practices as a way of understanding the world. She has a longstanding interest in the limitations and possibilities of perspective as a system for understanding place and placement, and much of her work has focused on the subtle shifts in perception that happen when ephemeral visual experiences are conveyed through material forms.
Lundin exhibits her artwork nationally and internationally. Recent exhibition venues include Soo Visual Arts Center, Minneapolis; South Bend Museum of Art; Redux Contemporary Art Center, Charleston; and Galeriehaus Nord, Germany. A 2014 HATCH Project Resident with the Chicago Artists Coalition, she has received multiple grants in support of her artwork, including from the Jerome Foundation, the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation. She received an MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and is Assistant Professor of Art at Wheaton College, where she teaches courses in painting, drawing, and printmaking.
