Applied behavior analysis aims to make socially significant behavior change to improve the lives of any organism. Most contemporary issues in our world today can be attributed to human behavior, and behavior analysis has the tools to bring about large-scale changes.”

Dr. Brandon Perez’s interests lie in the science of human behavior.I was inspired to pursue these interests when I realized how changes in human behavior can significantly alter a human’s life for the better.”

Perez, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), hopes that his students learn that the study of human behavior is applicable to any discipline. “Whether you continue to become a behavior analyst or not, it is always a useful skill to understand why a person, whether it is a coworker, family member, patient, supervisor, or someone else, is behaving in a certain way.”

What drew him to Trinity:
He was immediately drawn to the incredible support and collegiality of the faculty and administration. “I also found that my passion for helping students pursue their passions was shared by all of the other faculty.”

Research interests:
His specific research interests as a behavior analyst focus on improving the lives of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or related intellectual or developmental disabilities. “I have conducted research on the most effective ways of toilet training individuals with ASD as well as the assessment and treatment of behavioral problems.

When he’s not teaching:
Perez enjoys catching up on TV shows, drinking coffee, listening to podcasts, musicals, Taylor Swift, or Harry Potter audiobooks (Jim Dale of course!), and doing all of these with his wife Holly and two dogs, Griffin and Diggory.
