Dr. Stephanie Griswold

Director of Counseling Services & Psychology Instructor

Dr. Stephanie Griswold directs Trinity’s Counseling Center that offers counseling to students, and also teaches within the Counseling & Psychology Department.

She regularly trains graduate students from Trinity’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, and she has over ten years of clinical experience in working with children and adolescents, families, and young adults.

She believes that one of the most powerful ways God has given us to heal is when another person truly listens to our story. Henri Nouwen, one of Griswold’s favorite authors writes this, “The beauty of listening is that, those who are listened to start feeling accepted, start taking their words more seriously and discovering their own true selves.”

Griswold felt especially called to Trinity because of its mission statement that centers on unity and diversity. “This call is engrained in the history of the College and stands out amidst a cultural landscape that is fragmented and fraught with conflict, especially with regard to race and religion.”

When she’s not at work, Griswold is most at home near a beach or a lake, “preferably on a sunny day with temperatures about 80 degrees!”  She grew up on the coast of South Carolina and visits whenever she can. Otherwise, she enjoys camping, taking road-trips to national parks with her husband and son, and reading fiction novel series like “Harry Potter” and “The Chronicles of Narnia.” Griswold is also an active member of her church, Calvary Memorial Church in Oak Park, Ill.
