Director of Career Development
Jeff Timmer enjoys working with students at Trinity as they discover, communicate about, and live in to their vocation as a joyful response to God’s calling. “I view vocation as an idea that not only includes work and career, but also the way we approach faith, family, neighborhood, service, and civics — all while participating in God’s plan to bring redemption and shalom to the world,” says Timmer. “What I love about Trinity is the collaborative spirit on campus as we work together to help students along a path of self-discovery and meaningful engagement in the Kingdom.”
Prior to joining Trinity in 2016, Jeff served in residence life and career roles at two other small Christian liberal arts institutions in Florida and Michigan. He has earned a Master of Arts degree in Ethnomusicology from Bethel University (MN) – including research on a network of gospel choirs in Japan – and has completed a Graduate Certificate in Academic Advising from Kansas State University. Beyond of his work in Vocation & Career Development, Jeff instructs the World Music course at Trinity as an adjunct. He has presented at the Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE) and Association of Christians in Student Development (ACSD) national conferences.
Outside of Trinity, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters. Other things he likes to “talk about, think about, or do” include: hiking and backpacking, soccer officiating, baseball, surfing, design in higher education, narrative theory, the accordion, Lake Michigan, sketch comedy, Survivor, the Enneagram, and board games.
