“I have always enjoyed writing. My roommate last year would always read the little writings I did. She loved them and always wanted me to write more! One day, I just thought to myself… How cool would it be to write a book? Once I had the idea in my head that I wanted to move forward and really push myself to write a book, the thoughts flowed from there. When I finished my book, ONE LINE, I began researching publishers. I reached out to one publisher that seemed to be pretty commonly used between some of my favorite authors. Long story short, I did not hear back from that particular publisher, as it is very hard to get through to them without an agent. I decided it was time to take things into my own hands, and I realized that a lot of my favorite authors did the same thing when they were first starting out too. I independently published my book through Amazon, and it is available worldwide. The response I got from family and friends was overwhelming, and so amazing. I cannot thank them enough for all of the support I’ve received! It was incredible, and I believe independently publishing my book was the best choice.
“I’m a psychology major with a minor in English, and I play for Trinity’s basketball team and am an active leader in ALPS, Trinity’s Athletic Leadership Program. After I graduate in May, I plan to attend graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in sport’s psychology to help athletes and athletic programs with team dynamics, coping with injury, and work through personal or open issues within their lives and/or their sports activities. I took a risk doing this and going out on a whim to independently publish, and I wouldn’t change the experience if I got the chance to. The first step to achieving anything in life is believing that you can.”
