M.A. Special Education Programs

Teresa M. Stemen serves many Spanish-speaking families in her current role as a Behavior Specialist, which inspired her to enroll in Trinity’s ESL/Bilingual Endorsement sequence program. “I am fluent in Spanish but did not have enough of a background or understanding of the language services available to those students and families,” she said. “By pursuing this course work, I hope to raise my level of understanding to those families and improve my service.”

This is the second course of study at Trinity for Stemen, who earned a master’s degree and completed her Behavior Intervention Specialist work at the College in 2016. “I know the quality of experience and knowledge I would gain from its instructors and coursework,” she said.

She is enjoying her current course sequence. “We graduate students are taking classes along with some undergraduate students seeking the same endorsement. I like sharing my experiences and knowledge with them but also learning from their newer, fresher perspective.”

Stemen recommends Trinity’s ESL/Bilingual Endorsement Sequence program for anyone looking to make an immediate impact on English language learners in their classes and schools. “The knowledge and experience you will gain from the coursework can be implemented in your classes the very next day,” she said. “This program also provides a unique opportunity to widen your professional network through the classmates you will encounter and amazing instructors.”
