Gain a strong background in the sciences
A strong background in the physical and biological sciences will give you an advantage when you enter into doctoral level professional training programs in the health sciences.
Completion of a biology and/or chemistry major along with the cognate requirements provides such a background and includes the required courses for entering schools of dentistry (as well as medicine, optometry, osteopathic medicine, podiatry, and chiropractic).
Such schools require a specific entrance exam; students should work closely with their advisers to ensure they are prepared for the exam.
