We offer several scholarships to students with proven academic records and outstanding test scores, as well as scholarships based on your leadership in an area you plan to continue to participate in at Trinity, your declared major, your hometown location, and more.

Awards are available for: Art, Choir (Concert and Gospel), Instrumental Music, Peer Ministry, Theatre, and Worship Leadership.

Leadership Scholarship

Available to incoming freshmen and transfer students. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s leadership ability. Renewal of these scholarships requires active participation at Trinity. Art leadership recipients must major or minor in art.

Art, Music, and Theatre Leadership Scholarships

Leadership scholarships up to $5,000/year are available for visual art, music (choral and instrumental) and theatre. Those interested in applying should plan to attend the Trinity Arts Experience scheduled for Nov. 9-10, 2017. Official scholarship offers are available only to students who have been accepted for admission.

Art
Visual arts candidates should bring a flash drive with a PowerPoint of 7-10 of their best images. Each PowerPoint slide should include the title, medium and dimensions of the work shown. Flash drives will not be returned.

Music
Candidates in music will audition in person on Friday, November 10. Students should prepare two classical pieces in contrasting styles, one lyrical and one technical. For students performing with piano accompaniment (voice, orchestral instruments), the department will provide an accompanist for the audition.

Theatre
Candidates in theatre will audition in person on Friday, November 10. Acting students should prepare two monologues in contrasting styles (dramatic, comedic, historical period), not to exceed 5 minutes total. Non-acting students should bring or send a link with 5-10 images of their behind-the-scenes work (scenic, costume, lighting, make-up, stage management/crew). All students should have a letter of recommendation from a non-relative who can write about their theatrical experience and ability.

Trinity connects the personal attention of a small school to Chicago’s exciting resources in the arts, music and theatre. On Thursday evening and Friday, students will experience world-class art on campus and in Chicago’s art, music or theatre scene.

Music Leadership: Gospel Choir

This scholarship is for those that wish to participate in Trinity’s Gospel Choir. To be considered, a live audition is required. Your audition should include two Gospel pieces of a contrasting nature. To schedule a campus visit and an audition, click here. The priority application deadline is December 1st.

Peer Ministry Leadership

Peer Ministry Leadership scholarships are for those who wish to participate and grow in their ability to plan and lead student spiritual formation ministries on Trinity’s campus. To be considered, students must have come for an official college visit. To schedule a visit, click here. In addition, applicants must submit:

  • an essay outlining your understanding of and approach to spiritual formation—how have you grown in spiritual maturity, and how have you helped others grow in spiritual maturity? Apart from worship (there is a different scholarship for that!) what spiritual disciplines have shaped you the most and what experience do you have in helping others take up spiritual disciplines (Bible study, prayer, silence, fasting, spiritual direction, etc.).
  • a recommendation from a teacher or mentor who can speak to your skills and character as a spiritual leader

Men of A-Chord Choral Scholarship

A one-time award available to an incoming male student from Illiana Christian, Timothy Christian, Chicago Christian or Covenant Christian High School who was a participant in its choral program, and who will continue to participate at Trinity Christian College. The recipient must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA. Submit an essay answering the following question: “How has music impacted your faith and relationship with God?” Submit a letter of recommendation from your high school choral director.  Materials are due on March 31st.

This renewable scholarship will be awarded to an incoming freshman who has overcome physical or developmental obstacles to complete high school and pursue a college education. Unconditional Admittance to the College, submit a 300-350 word essay about the obstacles that you have overcome, in God’s strength, to complete high school and pursue a college education.

  • For: High school seniors going to Calvin, Dordt, King’s (Canada), Redeemer (Canada), Kuyper and Trinity Christian in Fall 2017
  • Prizes: $3500 First Prize (one awarded), $2000 Second Prize (three awarded)
    Awards are given annually for research papers on a topic dealing with John Calvin or Calvinism. First Prize is $3500 and three Second Prizes of $2000. Awards are payable to student tuition accounts at the following colleges: Calvin, Dordt, King’s (Canada), Redeemer (Canada), Kuyper and Trinity Christian.

Research Paper Format Guidelines
Papers should be 8 to 12 pages long, typed double-spaced, and include footnotes or endnotes as well as a bibliography. Pages must be numbered. Papers must include a cover sheet with the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Telephone number
  • E-mail address
  • High school and name of principal
  • High school address
  • Church and name of pastor
  • Church address
  • How you learned about the scholarship

No name or other identifying information should appear on any page except the cover sheet. The Meeter Center will assign each entry a code number and write it on the pages of the paper. This assures impartial judging of the papers by the Calvinism Committee and allows for accurate identification.

The Calvinism Committee will judge the papers by the following criteria:

  1. Thoroughness of research, including primary sources and quality secondary sources.
  2. Coherence and originality of the argument.
  3. Quality of writing.
  4. Relatedness to contemporary situation.

Papers must be attached to an email to Paul Fields, pfields@calvin.edu by January 16, 2017. The Calvinism Committee will select winners by March 15, 2017, from applicants who will attend college in the fall of 2017. All participants will be notified of their status by mail.

A renewable scholarship given to a student who is a graduate of the By the Hand Club for Kids and who has a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Admission to the College; submit the FAFSA or Financial Aid Form for Non-US Citizens.

By The Hand Scholarship

One renewable award is offered annually to a graduate of the By The Hand Program.  This scholarship supplements all federal, state and Trinity gift aid up to the full cost of tuition, room, board and fees, less the recipient’s contribution of $3,500. Admission to the College, a completed application (deadline of May 1), file the FAFSA (recommended by Dec. 1).

Each year, up to 18 incoming transfer students will be selected as Next Steps Scholars.  These students will receive renewable scholarship packages of at least $10,000. To be eligible,

Students:

  1. Have earned their A.A. or A.S. from one of these schools: Moraine Valley Community College, Prairie State College, South Suburban College, Joliet Junior College, or College of Dupage.
  2. Have Maintained a 3.3 cumulative college GPA.
  3. Plan to enroll as a full-time student at Trinity and declare a major in: Business, Criminal Justice, Elementary Education, Physical Education (K-12), or Psychology.

Scholarships automatically renew for one additional year at Trinity.

Admitted students who meet these criteria are automatically considered for the Next Step Scholars Program.  Awards are made on a rolling basis until funds are exhausted, so apply to Trinity today!

Transfer students who will ive in a campus housing may qualify for a housing grant up to $2,500.  Students must file the FAFSA for consideration.
