Mainstage Play: Black Sun / Blood Mon by Chris Bendall
Our mainstage play for the semester is the North American premier of Bendall’s 2022 Australian play, Black Sun / Blood Moon. A piece of activistic theatre which promotes environmental awareness and stewardship, this play follows two interwoven story lines. Maddy is a young activist trying to make a difference in her community. By attending protests, creating signs, and rallying support from her peers, she fights loud and hard to advocate for environmental care. But when social and legal repercussions stand in her way, Maddy must learn what it means to fight hard for what you believe in while also fighting well for those you care about. Meanwhile, Katie, a burnt-out, run-of-the-mill receptionist who’s just trying to get through the day, is launched against her will into a worldwide magical adventure to save planet earth. Tasked with planting a series of magic seeds across the globe’s ecosystems, she must learn to rely on nature, on friends, and most importantly, on herself– all to bring the earth back into harmony.
7:30pm for Friday & Saturday performances; 2:30pm for Sunday
