SPRING 2022 CHAPEL SERIES: “LIFE IN BETWEEN”
This semester in chapel, we will journey through the book of Exodus under the theme of LIFE IN BETWEEN. We especially feel emotions of Exodus—raw, visceral longing for something better; the confusion and pain of wandering in the wilderness—in this weary season. Among the most salient theme that we find, however, is the “in-betweenness” of Israel. The people of God navigated a liminal space between Egypt and Canaan, and we, too, find ourselves in a tension between the life as we know it and the life that God has promised for us. Using the narratives of Israel’s bondage and deliverance, we will explore how God meets us when we find ourselves between the present life and the promised land.

ABOUT IPO

In residence at Trinity Christian College, the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) is a leading performing arts organization in Chicago’s Southland providing professional orchestral music of beauty and excellence to the region. IPO’s repertoire ranges from Baroque and Classical masterpieces, to world premieres and modern favorites. The Illinois Council of Orchestras named IPO the “Illinois Professional Orchestra of the Year” in 1992, 2010, and 2020, recognizing IPO’s overall artistic excellence.

All are welcome to a public lecture by Mark Mulder ’95, Ph.D., Trinity alumnus and Professor of Sociology at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Mich. Mulder, the author of Shades of White Flight: Evangelical Congregations & Urban Departure, will offer a lecture entitled “Shades of White Flight: Reckoning with Racialized Legacies.”
