Ozinga Chapel will be the host of a Red Cross blood donation drive on Tuesday, Sept. 21 from 9 am to 2 pm.

Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. To find out more and register for an appointment, visit the Red Cross website.

Alumni in the Holland, Mich., area are invited to join Director of Alumni and Family Engagement, Jeremy Klyn ’02, along with fellow Trinity alumni, parents, and friends on Oct. 1 in the West Michigan area for a time of food, fellowship, and games at the Tulip City Brewstillery in Holland, Mich.

Come when you can, leave when you have to! Pop in after work or on your way to watch the Friday night football game. There will be both indoor and outdoor seating as well as games to enhance the fellowship.  Register in advance and your first drink and taco are on the alumni office. Additional food and beverage will be available for purchase at the Spice Boys food truck and the Brewstillery. Let us know you are coming so we make sure we have enough!

Trinity is coming to the Des Moines area and we’d like you to join us!

 Alumni, friends and families in the greater Des Moines area are invited to meet up with President Kurt and Leah Dykstra, Provost Aaron Kuecker, and other college staff for a relaxed time fellowship over some food and beverage on Monday, Oct. 4. Our reserved outdoor space at Smash Park Entertainment Center will provide plenty of relaxed seating for conversation as well as family-friendly yard games and entertainment for all ages.

Softball alumni and their family are invited to come cheer on the current Trolls softball team at Schaaf Fields during their annual “Troll Bowl” tournament on Saturday, October 9.

The schedule for the day will be:

11:00am – Trinity vs Illinois College

12:30pm – Lunch and fellowship with Coach Fazzari, the team, and fellow Alumni

1:30pm – Batting cage and warmups (based on tournament availability)

3:00pm – Trinity vs Moraine Valley (optional)

In a Web: An Ecologist’s View of Being Made in Relationship

An ecologist’s job is to study relationships in nature—how living things are interacting with the natural world around them. Sometimes we humans tend to underestimate our own connectedness with the rest of creation. How can we better recognize our relationships with creation and thus seek to fulfill our role as caretakers of creation? A starting point to consider is attentiveness to our neighbors here at Trinity—neighbors such as raccoons, warblers, and dragonfly nymphs who share our Trinity “backyard” with us.
