The Education Unit of Trinity Christian College is excited to announce our Fall 2023 (Virtual) Professional Development Series via Zoom. All sessions are FREE.

Speaker:  Dr. Bill Boerman-Cornell & Dr. Dave Klanderman

Graphic novels can be incredibly helpful in teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This session will explore the ways in which graphic novels can be used to boost student interest, enhance classroom instruction, and extend their learning beyond the lesson. Specific approaches and strategies for each of the STEM disciplines will be discussed.

Students find a sense of belonging in three main ways: finding similar others, finding purpose within a larger system, and finding relationships of continued care.  While all three paths can lead to a sense of belonging, relationships of continued care are especially important. In this session participants will explore Psychological research on encouraging such relationships between students.

AI, ChatGPT, Bard… the list can go on! The emergence of AI in education can leave teachers wondering where to begin. In this session participations will gain a better understanding of the emergence of AI in education including the promise of the technology as well as its limitations. Participants will develop skills in utilizing this tool to develop assessments for their students.

A Talking Circle is an organized form of group discussion adapted from Restorative Justice practices, and ultimately derived from Native American customs. This session will present the what, how, and why of using this approach. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and to imagine what a Talking Circle might look like in their own teaching contexts.

Credit: 1 Hour

 

Please join us for Trinity Christian College’s 8th Annual 24-Hour Theatre Project. In this event, teams made up of current students, staff and faculty members, Trinity alums, and local high school students have worked to write, rehearse, produce, and now perform seven original short plays– all in the span of 24 hours!

We’ve been working hard over the past day to put these shows together, and we’re excited to welcome you into them as our audience members.

Time: 7:30pm performance (doors open 7:15) and 10:00pm performance (doors open 9:45).

Price: Free admission! Seating is unassigned both on the ground floor and in the balcony.

Alumni of the Softball program are invited to Schaaf Fields for a friendly softball game, and to meet new head coach Ellie Manderfeld along with the current Trolls softball team on Saturday, October 14.

Coming off a record season this past spring where the team finished in second place at the NCCAA Softball World Series, the team is excited to build on that momentum for 2024! The schedule for the day will be:

  • 10:00am – Alumni vs Students 16″ softball game
  • 12:00pm – Post-game lunch and fellowship with the team

Children and spouses are welcome to attend as well. Please RSVP everyone in your party below so we know how much to order for lunch.
