Melinda Alberty is a native of Oklahoma and enjoys singing in multiple genres.  She began singing as a child in the church choir, and her passion for music grew as she sang in operas, musicals, and a variety of concerts.  Melinda has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Music Theatre of Wichita, John W. Engeman Theatre in New York, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Cimarron Opera, and others.  Some of Melinda’s favorite roles and works she has performed include Jellylorum in Cats, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Erzulie in Once on This Island, and the soprano solos in Brahms’s Ein Deutches Requiem and Handel’s Messiah.  Melinda is a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Chorus and has performed as a soloist with several organizations including the Northbrook Symphony, Downers Grove Choral Society, Heritage Chorale, and Oklahoma City Philharmonic.

Melinda is thrilled to share her love for singing with students while helping them discover the gift of music.  Along with teaching at Trinity, Melinda teaches private voice and piano lessons from her home studio where she lives with her husband and two children.  Melinda also enjoys writing songs, and her love for sacred music has continued.  She has sung as a soloist, cantor, and section leader at multiple churches, and she continues to sing with her church choir at Naperville Evangelical Covenant Church.  Melinda holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre Performance from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Music degree in Voice and Opera from Northwestern University.

Prof. Alberty joined the Trinity Music faculty in 2020 and teaches private voice lessons to Trinity students.
