What do I need to do?

At Trinity, we’re familiar with the needs of transfer students.  Our admissions team is here to ease your path as you take the next step on your college journey.  If you have further questions, please contact us.  We’re here to help.

Complete an Application for Admission and submit your official transcripts.

Upon acceptance, transfer students will receive their transfer credit evaluation by e-mail from the college registrar.

Students are also encouraged to contact their admissions representative to arrange a campus tour and meeting with a department chair.

  • Provide official transcript(s) from any college(s) previously attended. Applicants are required to have a cumulative college GPA of at least 2.50 (based on all colleges attended) and successful completion of all attempted courses in accordance with Trinity’s standards of satisfactory academic progress.
  • Submit a final high school transcript if you have completed less than 24 college credits at the time of application.
  • International students must submit an official catalog match transcript evaluation. Read more here.

While we accept students on a rolling admissions basis, the following are the recommended application deadlines for transfer students:

Fall Term – July 1

Students may transfer up to 75 credits from two-year institutions and unlimited credit hours from four-year institutions.

Trinity reserves the right to accept or reject courses for transfer credit. Only college-level coursework earned with a grade of C (2.0) or better from other accredited institutions is accepted for transfer. Based on the number of transferable credits at the time of initial enrollment at Trinity, students fulfill the following Foundations (general education) requirements.

Foundations coursework

*Students with two or more years of language study in high school: Take any courses from the World Cultures list to fulfill the World Cultures requirement. (SPAN 101 is one of the options.)
Students with fewer than two years of language study in high school: Take SPAN 101 or another approved language. This language course will fulfill the world cultures requirement.

The Registrar’s Office at Trinity has created transfer equivalency guides to make your transfer process as smooth as possible, with guides available for over a dozen community colleges and major-specific transfer guides available for our local community colleges.

Interested in taking courses for credit at Trinity without receiving a degree?  Complete the Unclassified Student Application. If you are no longer in high school, transcripts are not necessary.

If an unclassified student decides to work toward a degree, the student must apply for admission as a degree seeking student. Financial aid is not available for unclassified students.

Students who have earned a bachelor’s degree may enroll at Trinity to obtain teaching certification for the state of Illinois. Any interested person must complete the application for admission, and submit official transcripts from all colleges attended. Transcripts will be evaluated to determine which courses are needed for certification.
