Mission
The
mission of the Department of Campus Safety and Security is to provide
a safe and secure learning and working environment for the students,
faculty, and staff of Trinity Christian College. As a staff, we will work
with the College community to provide professional safety and security
related services.
While
providing these services, we will treat all persons with respect and dignity
to reflect the Christian principles that Trinity Christian College was
founded upon.
Department
Information
The
Department of Campus Safety and Security consists of a Director, full-time
security officers, part-time officers, private contract security officers, and
a group of student security guards and dispatchers. While campus security
officers are not armed, they posses citizen's arrest authority to detain
individuals in situations deemed appropriate, but officially, hold no police powers.
The primary responsibility for law enforcement and criminal investigations
on campus rests with the Palos Heights Police Department. However,
security personnel have established a close working relationship with
local, county, and state law enforcement agencies, and stand ready to assist
Trinity community members in the pursuit of criminal complaints.
Campus
security officers conduct foot and vehicular patrols of the campus and
residence hall areas 24 hours a day. All full-time security officers have completed
the Illinois State Certification Course for unarmed security officers
and continue to receive additional training throughout their careers.
Security
Officers enforce all college rules and regulations for student behavior
and vehicle operations on campus. Local police are contacted for any arrest
relating to violations of local or state laws.
Policy
Statement
Despite
the relatively low crime rate in its surrounding communities, Trinity Christian
College regards the safety and welfare of its students, faculty and staff
as one of its highest concerns. The College has implemented many policies
and programs to maintain and increase campus security, but individuals
are reminded that they must assume responsibility for their own safety,
that of others, and the protection of property. Each member of the College
community is encouraged to report all emergencies and criminal activity
promptly to the Department of Campus Safety and Security.
