Engage with philosphy for the concerns of present-day life
When you pursue a philosophy, politics and law degree at Trinity, you will become an intellectual with vision and wisdom toward politics and law.
This degree program integrates the study of philosophy with selected courses in the social sciences (for a total of 45 credit hours). It is designed for students who intend to pursue graduate legal studies, but is suitable for any student who is interested in gaining a philosophical and historical understanding of the structures of contemporary political society.
The major includes courses that engage with the history of philosophy for the concerns of present-day life and culture, courses focused on social philosophy, logic, a year-long senior research seminar oriented to students’ particular interests, an internship with an agency or firm that is connected to the student’s interest, and courses in Political Science and Criminal Justice.
Called to participate in the life of a community
The mission of the social work program at Trinity Christian College is to prepare community-centered, civically-engaged generalist social work practitioners and critical consumers of evidence. The social work program is rooted in social work values and ethics and committed to advocacy in pursuit of justice, restoration, and the common good within the context of a Reformed Christian, liberal arts education.
A Trinity Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree prepares students to help change lives and communities emphasizing that:
- community well-being is essential to a common good,
- each community has gifts and assets, and
- we are called to participate in the life of a community.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects a 13% employment growth rate for all social workers from 2019-29. This outpaces average employment estimates for other fields.
Trinity’s online adult undergraduate (AUG) Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program meets a critical need for adult learners. The program allows:
- Greater accessibility to a BSW degree for individuals who may otherwise not be able to engage with social work education due to various barriers such as work and family responsibilities.
- An accelerated program serving adults aged 23 or older and designed to assist with adult learners’ degree completion.
- Enables adult learners with 60 transferable credits to complete their bachelor’s degree within approximately 2 ½-3 years part-time, year-round.
Students who earn their BSW degree at Trinity Christian College are eligible to earn their MSW degree in 1-year through the advanced standing placement enrollment option at other higher education institutions with a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Master of Social Work (MSW) degree program.

The following outlines requirements for adult learners interested in completing their Bachelor of Social Work degree online at Trinity:
Program Requirements:
- Submission of all official transcripts from any higher education institutions previously attended
- Minimum 2.5 Cumulative GPA
- Minimum of a C (2.0) in social work courses
- Completion of social work program application during second semester of course work
59 credits for the major
- 44 credits of Social Work major courses earning a minimum of a C (2.0) that must be taken at Trinity and are not transferable
- 15 credits of additional course requirements earning a minimum of a C (2.0) and can either be taken at Trinity or transferred in

**Students completing this program must have a minimum of 120 credit hours to graduate with a BSW degree. Students with a previously earned bachelor’s degree from Trinity Christian College wanting to earn their BSW degree must follow the Subsequent Degree policy. Students with a previously earned bachelor’s degree from another institution wanting to earn their BSW degree at Trinity must complete all requirements for the BSW, including major and Foundations. The Department of Social Work does not give academic credit to students for life experience or previous work experience for social work courses or field education requirements.
- Program orientation on campus at the beginning of program start– on-campus attendance not required with live stream option.
- Fully online asynchronous courses for social work courses. Only field seminar during a student’s field placement have synchronous class sessions. Dates and times to be announced.
- Social work courses are 8-weeks. Students take 1 social work course at a time.
- Any additional course requirements for the program not already met prior to starting the program will be incorporated into a student’s mapped-out course sequence.
- Scheduling (day of the week & time) of any additional course requirements and Foundations courses will be based on the schedule available by the sponsoring departments.
The part-time degree completion timeline will be individualized for each student varying in range of approximately 2 to 3 years depending on transfer credits. The below course sequence sample is based on a fall start for social work courses. It includes a sample course sequence for students with 60 transfer credits inclusive of Trinity’s Foundations course requirements for transfer students based on transferable credit hours. Students interested in starting at Trinity in the online adult BSW program in a spring semester or summer semester are able to take Foundations and/or additional course requirements for the social work program during those semesters as applicable. Social work course offerings for new adult social work students begin in the fall semester only.
Trinity’s online adult undergraduate (AUG) Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is a high-touch program designed to foster a sense of community, hospitality, caring, and support to students. Trinity provides training and support for the various technology platforms to assist students. It is recommended that students are able to spend at least 10-15 hours per week for each 3-credit course. For courses with more credits, it is recommended to plan additional time for assignments.

- I am comfortable with technology, especially web-based and internet technologies, and I am comfortable using a computer to perform regular tasks such as checking email, creating documents in Word, or creating PowerPoint presentations, etc.
- I have access to a computer with a functional camera & audio system.
- I have access to reliable, high-speed internet that will allow me to regularly access and respond to Trinity email and complete course work through Trinity’s Learning Management System (LMS), Brightspace.
- I am comfortable being an advocate and asking for help if needed as well as taking the initiative and contacting my professor with questions or concerns regarding courses.
- I am aware that the flexibility and convenience inherent in many online courses does not mean the course will be easy, especially as the courses are accelerated at 8-week terms.

Tuition & Financial Aid
Tuition is $589 per credit hour. The technology fee is $100 for each 16-week semester. In addition, a $150 non-refundable deposit is required for newly accepted students.

The global community needs those in the criminal justice system who are compassionate professionals that apply justice to those accused of breaking laws. And at Trinity, you will also learn about restoration for those who commit crimes, and even greater restitution for crime victims and society in general.
We honor the biblical and social bases of the law enforcement and justice systems. Our faculty also focus on how the criminal justice system is an integral part of other social institutions. We believe that our graduates should be well educated, resolute, just, and seasoned with Christian love.
And since Trinity is located just 25 miles from downtown Chicago, you will be able to apply your knowledge and gain experience in urban communities, courtrooms, and correctional facilities.
Graduates of the criminal justice program are equipped to seek their vocation in local and state police forces; federal law enforcement agencies; peacemaking, community-building, and justice innovation; conventional and alternative punishment systems; reintroducing prisoners into civilian society; and the criminal court system. Our alumni are Chicago Police Department officers, serve in the U.S. military, work in private security, and are employed by federal agencies.

Here, you will study how Christ’s redemption underlies the possibility of social and personal restoration. Earn your B.A. from Trinity
At Trinity, studies of history are shaped by the study of the outlines of what has happened in the past and by bringing you in contact with the sources which inform us about the past. Your professors emphasize skills in reading, writing, thinking, and speaking that are critical to gaining historical understanding, to communicate that understanding to others, and to apply historical understanding to responsible service.
Our history majors continue on to graduate school or into a wide range of careers in business, government, politics, journalism, and non-profit organizations.

With a B.S. in speech-language pathology from Trinity, you will be prepared for the next stage of your educational journey. And your education won’t be just theoretical. A degree in Special Education from Trinity is for you
You have a passion to help children who have special needs, and Trinity can get you ready.
When you choose to double major in special education from Trinity, you can pursue another major leading to a second endorsement (elementary, middle grades, a secondary program, or K-12 specialist program). The double major can be completed in four years. Special education is also a stand-alone major that can be combined with another high area of need – English as a Second Language or Bilingual Education. Special education majors also earn an education minor.
Trinity offers a Pre-K to Age 21 licensure with an endorsement in Learning Behavior Specialist I.

At Trinity, we’ll help you make a difference with a minor in environmental studies.
Since Trinity is just 25 miles from downtown Chicago, you’ll have world-class institutions like the Shedd Aquarium and Morton Arboretum in your backyard. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with professors on projects even closer to home, since research is often done on the Navajo Creek that flows through campus.
After graduation, students who follow the Environmental and Ecological track:
• Pursue ecological careers in the area of environmental justice, natural resource management, lab and outdoor research, and government policy advisement.
• Enter graduate school to pursue ecological post-graduate studies.
After graduation, students who follow the Allied Health Science track:
• Take post-graduate studies to become physical therapists, speech language pathologists, or occupational therapists.
• Pursue medical technology work.
• Find work or pursue post-graduate studies in other allied-health science related fields, like athletic training, emergency medical sciences, health administration, and more.
